Overview
Told in first person, this documentary weaves together two stories of disappearance: that of Atzin Molina, my high school friend who vanished in 2019, and that of Atzin, the Totonac rain deity, considered dead or missing due to the environmental devastation caused by oil exploitation in northern Veracruz, Mexico. Through these two figures—one human, the other divine—the film explores the violence, loss, and grief that pierce through contemporary life in Mexico.
