This documentary covers the life of Santiago Avendaño, the first former captive born in Argentine territory to leave us a written testimony. Avendaño was captured by the Ranquel Indians at the age of 7 in 1842 and escaped at the age of fifteen in 1849. Avendaño dedicated his life and work to defending the rights of Indians in Argentine territory, to mediating between the aboriginal communities and white society as an interpreter, soldier, government official and writer.
